What Causes Morning Sickness
If you can pinpoint the cause for something, you would be able to put yourself in a position where you can easily prevent it from happening. For example, in the case of morning sickness, if you knew exactly what causes morning sickness, you could easily take steps to root out the cause. If it’s because of lack of a particular kind of food, just make sure you consume that food type and you are safe. Would be really convenient, wouldn’t it? But then, unfortunately, is someone tells you ‘this is what causes morning sickness’, he is either guessing or he is misled. Yes, that’s the fact. Science has not been able to tell us with precision what the causes may be.
However, there sure are certain pointers towards what the causes could be based
on previous experiences and inferences. Popular opinion is that morning sickness
is a direct consequence of the various chemical and biological changes that take
place in the human body during pregnancy. There are various juices and acids
being constantly secreted in the human body and the increase and decrease of the
levels of these juices and acids might trigger certain conditions such as
intense nausea etc. that are indicative of morning sickness.
Another theory concerning the reason behind morning sickness is that the stress
and strain and the suddenly abnormal experience of pregnancy causes the general
fatigue and tiredness that kick of other symptoms too. Probably the most widely
accepted of the theories that try to explain what causes morning sickness is the
gradual buildup of hCG or human Chorionic Gonadoptin that begins with the
beginning of the pregnancy and usually lasts till around the beginning of the
second trimester. For most women, morning sickness magically disappears during
this period giving a further push to this theory.
Well, there are even the more fantastic theories that relate to the
psychological causes of morning sickness. A noted psychologist even propounded a
theory that says that morning sickness is just a sub-conscious manifestation of
the mother’s desire to abort the fetus by throwing up owing her intense dislike
of her husband during early stages of pregnancy. However, such theories do not
carry much credence and are mostly disregarded by believers of modern science.
